My week update:
Left picture is a before photo at my high point, the right was this past weekend. I am weighing in at 163 even as of this morning, which is 5 pounds since last Monday, and probably almost 30 since November. Again, I didn’t weigh back then, but I knew I was at my heavy weight, which was at least 190. I hated to weigh back then and see a number on the scale. Before I got pregnant with my daughter, I was about 162.4. Do you think we will leave the 160’s in the dust this week?

This week has been so busy. My husband was away on travel all week and keeping up with everything in the house and keeping food around for the kids, made it a challenge to post here. Thursday, I helped my mom troubleshoot her stall in weight loss and helped with some meal planning ideas and recipes. I felt a bit overwhelmed yesterday and was struggling. I am feeling much better today, and I took the day me, kind of. It snowed this morning, and my kids didn’t have school, and they played outside and made fuse bead creations and interrupted my me time, but I did get a little in. I have been sticking my lifestyle. I am on week 4!
I did take my kids to a movie Friday afternoon, and instead of taking treats or getting popcorn, we took some popcorn with seasoning for me, and the kids had some date sugar sprinkled on theirs. They enjoyed it, as did I. I do know that it’s a trigger food for me, so I have to keep it as a rare treat. The kids also had some homemade trail mix as a snack also, and I had a banana in the car before we went in. I also made a dinner that didn’t turn out very good, but my son loved it. My daughter and both thought it was gross, though she always thinks anything is gross that I make for dinner.
I did find this delicious overnight oat recipe online: Chocolate Raspberry Overnight Oats – Three Little Chickpeas
Instead of maple syrup, which breaks down to pure sugar in the body, and is lacking in whole nutrients, I used date syrup. You could also use date paste, which is whole blended dates with a little water. I have used it in baking etc., and it tastes very caramelly. I made it for the kids, but I had some, and BOY, that was a delicious recipe for oats. I’m not usually an oats fan, but I could eat that daily and probably never complain. Give it a shot and let me know what you think!
What is a Nutritarian?
I thought I would take some time to post about what a Nutritarian is, as you may not know, depending on where you are coming to me from. “What is a Nutritarian?”
It all goes back to Dr. Joel Fuhrman. He is a family doctor who found his passion in healing others. He started his focus on nutritional science and healing diseases in his practice. He eventually wrote multiple books to get the information out there for people to learn and heal themselves. He was even on the New York times bestseller list, in fact 7 books made the list. My favorite is Eat to Live. I feel like it’s better than Eat for Life, though Eat for Life has some updated science and recommendation, like no fish etc. due to mercury and microplastics, etc. If you are close to a healthy weight, I think Super Immunity would be a good start, and if you have kids in your life, Disease Proof your Child. He also has two cookbooks, and I actually think having both is a good thing if you decide to take the plunge and get healthy as well.
A nutritarian diet consists of all plant based foods and feeding our bodies the most nutritious available foods. This is because they are the most nutrient dense based on a per calorie basis. Did you know there are things in food beyond fats, proteins, carbohydrates, vitamin C, A, etc? For example, Kale alone has well over 50, and there are over 10,000 discovered, and they discover more all the time. These are things that our body vitally needs, and they also fill our cells and tell our body when we are satisfied, when we are hungry, and help run our vital functions. They also help eliminate cravings. When we are not getting what we need, our body takes away and uses what’s needed for the most vital functions. So if you think about it like robbing Peter to pay Paul, and eventually it catches up with us in all kinds of ways, cancer, disease, general illness.
Dr Fuhrman, in his practice, has healed peoples Type 2 diabetes, lupus, early MS and improving symptoms of some later stages, all kinds of different heart disease, depression, anxiety, and many more. Also even improving general health to where people don’t get sick, like colds and flu, or rarely. We aren’t meant to get sick all winter, even with kids in the house.
The focus of this lifestyle results in weight loss, but it’s really about overall health and longevity. Dr. Fuhrman says the ideal life span of a human is 97-107, but with their memory and physical abilities intact, not what we see now days with dementia, Alzheimer’s, stroke damage, heart attacks, etc.
You don’t need to feel terrible, exhausted, sick, fatigued. If you want to read the book, reach out, I will read it along with you, and we can ask and answer questions together, and see where I can help support you in this path together.
